SYCAMORE ROW BY JOHN GRISHAM| A REVIEW BY BANRET DASHAN

Lettie was a servant, a black servant working in a white home, living in a racist community, barely making things happen for her family. She was only a little child when almost all her clan were murdered over a land dispute.

Seth was dying of cancer, his brother was missing, presumed dead. Two little kids watched their dad murder her people. John Grisham takes us in a breathtaking ride in Sycamore Row where we explore justice, racism, courage, family, greed and so much more.

Seth Hubbard documented a will leaving all he had to his family, but that changed a couple days to his suicide, he was found hanging from a sycamore tree, leaving behind a note, detailing how he should be buried, and how his will should be carried out. Seth wrote a new will will which will down upon us the apocalypse-leaving everything to his black maid, and a little to his long lost brother, Ancil, cutting off the rest of his family in this new will which will be fiercely contested. A large property was up for grabs, lots of money involved, many parties claiming the rights to it. Foul play was suspected; she was accused of using sex to work her way through their "model's" will.
Mr. Brigance, an arrogant lawyer was precisely tasked to carry out the latest will to the letter. It seemed a lost cause-the opposition lawyers had so many skeletons in their closets it was hard to not celebrate before the final verdict, so much that they refused to settle and share the spoils to avoid any hassles and time wastage.
Ancil was later found, and he would prove to be the key to solving the mystery. He narrated how he and his older brother watched their dad kill Lettie's folk and took 'Sycamore Row', the land in question. The land, it's rights and all the money was handed to Lettie. What a twist!!
